MIT constructed a large computer laboratory building, the MIT Stata Center, designed by the firm of Frank Gehry, Gehry Partners LLP, within which is a small Childcare Center with an outdoor play area.

As the Childcare Playground Consultant, Johansson Design Collaborative's task was to develop a program of activities with the childcare client and to familiarize the Gehry architects with information about children's play concepts and the codes related to outdoor play. To accomplish this, we held several design meetings and we produced a Program Book of text and a set of images on posters describing many aspects of play.
